Kyphosis / Hyper kyphosis/Hunch Back



Definition:-

 

The Kyphosis/Hunch Back is anterior posture curvature of spine with forward rounding of the upper back, we can say something wrong with normal curvature of spine. Kyphosis can affect people of all ages, commonly its seen in old age people.  

 

Symptoms: -

Hunch Back

Wrong spine curvature

Slouching

Difficulty to breath.

 

 

Causes: -

Maximum uses of Laptop, mobile, TV etc.

Because of Wrong posture.

Weakness in the spine/ Osteoporosis.

Lack of exercise.

Regular aging.

Disk degeneration.

Muscular dystrophy.

Lack of spinal flexibility.  

 

 

Treatment:-


Active lifestyle.

Maintaining an active lifestyle is crucial for overall health and well-being. Regular physical activity offers numerous benefits for your physical, mental, and emotional health.

Correct your posture.

Improving posture is important for maintaining good musculoskeletal health and reducing the risk of pain or injuries.

Acupressure.

Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves applying pressure to specific points on the body to promote healing and relieve pain. While acupressure can provide temporary relief for some individuals. 

Stretching.

Stretching can be beneficial for individuals with kyphosis, which is a condition characterized by an excessive curvature of the upper spine, leading to a rounded or hunched back. It can help improve flexibility, relieve muscle tension, and promote better posture.

Yoga Therapy.

Yoga therapy is best practice for individuals with kyphosis. Yoga combines physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation to promote overall well-being, flexibility, strength, and posture awareness. Some asanas for practice are:-

Tadasana

Bhujangasana /Cobra Pose

Matsayasana/Fish Pose

Cow Push up and Wall Push up

Cat & Cow pose etc.

 

Dumbbell practice is good for fix this issue.  

Dumbbell exercises good practice for individuals with kyphosis, as they can help strengthen the muscles that support good posture. By targeting the upper back, shoulders, and core muscles, dumbbell exercises can improve posture, increase upper body strength, and enhance overall stability.
